The whole idea is to design a ski that has a lot more of surfing in it.
A ski that makes you surf down the mountains. What I was missing in skiing was the ability to use natural formations, such as natural halfpipes, quarterpipes etc. and to attack them like a surfer/snowboarder. But also to make a ski that can make deep carving turns in soft snow, just like surfer/waterskiers do on water. For this it takes a ski that surfs on top of the snow. As long as you ski on top of the snow that's not a problem; the problem starts when you sink into the snow and don't have enough support from it. The skis start to submarining, hooking up, impossible to slide and this behavior increases when snow conditions gets worse. Therefore, I have questioned today's ski designs and ask myself, what can be done to improve it? So I have redesigned those features that "had" no answers. I have to add that there is far to much racing in today's freeride skis and the reason to that is simply that the traditional ski companys are mostly interested in racing and really do not have the feeling for freeride skiing! It takes as much effort to make a good freeride ski as it takes to make a good racing ski. One thing is for sure, to make a good freeride ski it takes more then a "SG ski" widened by two centimeters!
